<p><span style="font-family:Meiryo;"><span style="font-size:16px;">地金型コインの代表作として、過去半世紀以上もの長きにわたって高評価を獲得してきた南アフリカ造幣局のクルーガーランド地金型コイン。1967年7月3日に初出となり注目を集めた同作品ですが、以降の人気とそれに見合ったクオリティーの高さには確かに目を見張るものがありました。1960年代といえば、まだ個人が延べ棒などの地金商品を購入したり、実物資産としてのそれらを投資の対象として運用するということがあまり一般的ではなかった時代でした。それゆえに、南アフリカ政府肝煎りの投資用貴金属として誕生したクルーガーランド地金型コインは、時代のニーズが生んだ最先端の投資用ツールとして受け入れられたのかもしれません。衝撃的なデビュー以降、一貫して製造を請け負ってきたのは、1920年の創業以来南アフリカ共和国を代表する貴金属精製会社として名を馳せるランド・リファイナリー社であり、発行元の南アフリカ造幣局とのコラボレーションという形によって発表されました。元々大英帝国の首都ロンドンを本拠としていた同社ですが、南アフリカで採掘された金塊の精製に特化する企業として同地に居を構え、その後アフリカ大陸を代表する一大企業へと変貌を遂げました。コインの名称の「クルーガーランド」は、1883年から1902年まで南アフリカ共和国の大統領であったポール・クルーガー（1825－1904）の名に由来します。彼の肖像はコイン表面に描かれていますが、髭を蓄えた堂々たる風貌は当コインのハイライトであり、南アフリカ共和国の国家的象徴でもあります。コイン裏面には、同国のもう一つの顔ともいえる大自然の主人公である「スプリングボック」が描かれています。シカに似た外観を持つこの動物は、南アフリカ共和国から他のアフリカの多くの国々にかけて生息する野生動物として知られています。世界初の地金型コインとして一世を風靡したクルーガーランドですが、その後続々と発表されることになる地金型コインの先鞭を切った作品として知られています。1979年にカナダが発表した「メープルリーフ」、1982年の中国の「パンダ」、1987年のイギリスの「ブリタニア」、そして1989年のオーストリアの「ウィーン・フィル」等の名作地金型コインは全てクルーガーランドの影響を受けてリリースされ、国際的な高評価を確立したものばかりです。このように輝かしいスタートを切った1960年代のクルーガーランドでしたが、1970年代以降、特に1980年代初頭には同国の白人政府による有色人種隔離政策「アパルトヘイト」が世界的なバッシングの対象となったため不買運動へと繋がり、黄昏の時代を迎えます。同貨幣の最大輸出国であった当時のアメリカ合衆国においても1985年から輸入は大幅に削減され、ヨーロッパ各国でもそれに歩調を合わせるかのようにボイコット運動が展開されます。我が国日本においても1980年代には特にクルーガーランド金貨のブームが到来し、地金型コインという言葉が一般的ではなかった時代であったものの、同種のコインによる実物資産投資が早くも日本列島に上陸した感がありました。これらの国々においてクルーガーランドに対する輸入規制が解除されたのは1991年以降のことで、南アフリカ共和国政府による政策方向転換を機に徐々に輸入が再開されるようになりました。21世紀の今日再び往時の輝きを取り戻したクルーガーランド地金型コインですが、投資家のみならず広くコインコレクターに受け入れられ、地金型商品の古典として広く市場に伝播しつつあります。今回ご紹介の作品はクルーガーランドの1オンス銀貨2023年度版です。「Fine gold」の表記があるにもかかわらず実際の純金含有率は91.69％（22金）であることが知られている同金貨ですが、この銀貨版は「Fine silver」の表記の通り99.9％の銀含有率を特徴とするもので実物資産として最適です。南アフリカ共和国が世界に誇るクルーガーランド銀貨版の解禁となりました。</span></span></p>\n
